what is this?
This is really starting to piss me off now. I need some major help! I have an older (just over 2 years old) computer with all the necessary tools (windows XP, AMD athlon 64 processor, plenty of RAM, 2 hard drives, etc...) and my system has apparently grown some evil hatred of me. EVERY time I try to start the computer up, it goes through (at least) about an hour long process to where I can actually use the fucking thing to record. (Pardon the language but it's gotten to that point.) First it goes through the normal boot-up process but, instead of my windows XP coming up, it goes through this blue screen that says something about autocheck not being found and then re-boots automatically. The damned thing goes through this for at least 45 minutes (a nice little loop thing) and then it goes to my windows login page. I have it password protected for no reason, it's just one of those things. The first time that my password screen comes up my mouse cursor is non-existent and, if I try to type my password in, nothing happens. I then proceed to turn the power off, for at least 5-10 seconds, and restart it only to start the autocheck death loop over again. The next time (oh, yes, this is consistant!!) that I FINALLY get to the windows login thing again, it acts like it's okay and lets me type in my password to get into windows. Then, and this is when it REALLY gets frustrating, Cubase doesn't recognize any security device. I bought the damn program (from AMS, which included the dongle) before I even bought the computer to install it in, it's worked fine, without any glitches or hassles, since I bought it untill I moved for the second time. Now I'm having all these hassles. I'm sorry for the long post but I want to make sure that I have enough info and that I have expressed my chagrin completely. I'm at a loss to what could be going on, does anybody have any ideas? (Other than throwing the whole POS out of the window of my 3rd floor apartment?)
