hello to group (producing issues)

Hello all,

I'v been making music(begginning with gabber, drum'n'bass, now jazz, funky stuff) for about 8 years with different programs.

Right now i'm using logic 5.5,
have no hardware,
and crappy soundcard sb64pci(is a problem!?)

the problem is what i didn't realize, my production sucks
after 8 years i see no hope right now

always something missing, crappy sound

could someone please give me some tips
how to make these sound better and more proffesional

also i'm considering buying a new soundcard with multi outs/ins

so if someone is willing to help, pleaz

do you mean no mic no actual synth and just Logic and some soft synth? If so, your soundcard will only affect what you hear when mixing, not what's going in since nothing is going in...so, you probably wanna buy some monitors if you want to upgrade your card

since you are not really "recording" anything your stuff will only sound as good as your samples and soft synth, then some mixing/mastering job to polish them up.

By listening to your song, I don't think you have problem with your mix, but it's the midi feeling that kind throws me off

Why do you need a soundcard with multi I/O? Are you going to start recording drumkits or something?

If so then just get a Digi 001, you get the software with it, and you can trade the hardware in for a bigger, better model somewhere down the track.

If you're not going to be recording more than two instruments an M-Audio Delta (I think?) sounds pretty good.

to multi outs: i'm actually recording bass and guitar pretty often lately, have not used these instruments in my songs yet

about the midi feeling .. yes i agree .. all stuff is programmed
so no actual keyborad feel .. did you mean that?
the sounds should be ok? .. all softsynth sounds

yea, as it appears someone has previously touched upon . . .

it is common to notice what are sometimes drastic improvements in sound when actually recording real instruments and/or synths.

you'd be surprized at the whole new world actually playing something will open up for you.

yeah, I mean, the songs shows that you know what you are doing, but, in a less of a human way cus of the midi feeling. I think the keys are ok, but the beat is the biggest problem in my opinion. Try download/buy some loops, and see if you hear an improvement of a more realistic feeling.

My suggestion is to get a midi keyboard and a soundcard first. That way you can start playing the keys and record guitars as well.
