I sure wish I'd found this place sooner. I stumbled in here a few weeks ago while doing a google search on ASIO drivers. Since then these forums have been my starting point when looking for info. My hat's off to the many knowledgeable, and friendly members who'll take the time to help beginners such as myself. Although I've never posted before I've lurked here for some time, and had my questions answered in the threads repeatledly. Every time I visit this board it's a learning experience. It sure beats fumbling through it all on my own. My gear is all pretty simple and cheap but I plan on upgrading things gradually. The first thing I plan on doing is building a pc that'll be dedicated to recording. Currently I'm using a eurorack 802, and a 2 in, 2 out USB bridge. I have a couple Cheap MXL condenser mics, and 1 ea. Shure, and AT dynamics. For monitors I have a 30w integrated amp hooked to some Polk Audio bookshelf cabinets, and a Pioneer passive sub. I'm totally aware it's a bunch of hobby hacker junk, but it'll give my a chance to hone my recording skills along with giving me some background with which to make wiser purchases in the future. I haven't purchased a DAW, but I've tried a few of the free ones. REAPER seems pretty cool, but I've got so much to learn that this is by no means an endorsment. Thanks again to everyone.

Local Las Vegas Musicians; If you're gigging, and need crowd support feel free to PM me. I just might show up.

Welcome man, ive been lurking here since last summer, this forum inspired me to get into this recording feild, currently building a "studio"

My stuff is pretty hobby too, although the Delta 66 (great card, i'd settle for a 44 considering I have no use for the digital) is a start with ProTools, its a fun hobby and can be cheap or insanley expensive

keep recording.

Hello JCH,
My but you're a tidy fellow. Those neat coils of cable behind the keyboard make me very envious. Did you alternate the winds over then underhand when coiling?
Sorry, silly comment.
Welcome, enjoy, learn, produce stuff & pop it on the MP3 Mixing Clinic, participate, comment, critique, reposnd, encourage but mostly play thise things in your picture.
Your gear list is a much better start than I made. The only thing I'd be cautious of is the sub - it won't accurately reflect your mix in terms of flat & common set up responses.
I look forweard to your contributions.
There's much to be gleaned just from lurking about these pages eh?
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome. I keep the sub out of the mix. Pictured here is the johnny deluxe subwoofer mute. I'm not really a bottom feeder, but the polks are a little weak at high volume. Australia eh? That's cool.. Do you have any didgeridoo <not sure I spelled that right> samples with the drone in C?

Sorry,
No didge. Yeah, your spelling was gud.
The didge is a great instrument - though in various parts of Australia - in fact most - it's an instrument that women are, traditionally, not permitted to touch, let alone play, it's loaded with religious/cultural significance. There are some great exponents & some poor the most amusing thing about sampling it would be that an oscillating alg would be best as the circular breathing used in it's playing is almost replicated.
I love the butt plug for the sub. - but would it cause internal damage in the same way a plugged exhaust would?
Cheers
