It's time for my next (and hopefully permanent) studio project. I've been considering several options since the last project to isolate sound in a very difficult terraced house situation.
The last build was definitely helped by bouncing ideas off you guys so it looks like another few months o' fun to come with this one
Anyway, in the process of brainstorming for this new studio I've been having a good old think about doors. Now, in the last project I had good isolation from double 45mm light fire doors (I went ballistic about not getting heavy doors but in the end they turned out perfectly fine). In the new build I would like to install windowed doors so everyone can see what is going on. I would like the isolation I got from light fire doors as a minimum. There are 3 options I'm considering and I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who's tried these before:
1) sticking with 45mm fire doors (boo)
2) standard plastic patio doors (sliding/hinged?)
3) installing exterior grade electric slide doors (like you would find in banks etc. - serious cool factor but what about the sound isolation? I live in Taiwan so I can get them dirt cheap)
