I'm a new Line6 AX2 amp owner (2 months) and love it! I recorded the guitar tracks on my band's CD using either my ADA MP-1 or a Marshall JCM800, but when I got the AX2 i had to go back and redo some tracks. Anyway, I think they turned out well.

If you like heavy alternative music (we call it pyschedelic grungelistic rock) have a listen - www.mp3.com/ScreamSophie

mp3.com was being a bitch last nite, only downloaded one tune without probs...."Believe" is the one I got...great drumming, great guitar work, real clean mix...vocals and lyrics great (see a pattern here?)...at 2:59 there is a broken glass sound that I dug...how'd you get that sound...real glass, sample, what?....I thought the bass could have come up a bit, but it was my pc speakers...I cranked it thru my home stereo and it was all better...great tune.....gibs

Thanks, appreciate the compliments. The glass was a sample, although there have been times when I thought someone was going to break a beer bottle at rehearsal. There was also some bass guitar feedback right there too (imagine that..)

I struggle the most with bass (frequencies) in the mix, because I love heavy bass, but one tries to keep that fine balance so the recording will transcend different playback systems well. I am a huge King's X fan and find myself using their recordings to compare to my mixes.

I used the ADA-MP1 preamp and the power amp section of the JCM800 for the guitar tracks on that one. I did run them thru an MTK patch on the VS1680 to brighten and phatten them up.

Thanks again!

Very good stuff. I downloaded "Believe" and I like the sound you get on the guitars. Some hard rockin'. I could hear this on the radio.

I hear ya on the bass freq. I have the same problem myself. I think you could add a little more and still get away with it since you said you like the bass heavy, but it's definitely not a problem in anyway as is.

Curt, I meant to reply to this 2 days ago and forgot... I really freakin' dig "Believe". Great tone on the guits.

alright I just downloaded this one, theis is my first impression. I thought everything sounded good..great voice sound. good guitar tone. good drums + bass.

There's only one thing buggin me. The rythm guitar seemd not to sit in the mix enough for me, maybe it's a tad too loud, maybe the drums need to come up, I dont know.

But over all, I think it sounded great.

I hear the King's X coming out of your music. BIG TIME! Great song.

I've been a KingsX fan for over 10 years. You guys got um down pretty good. Enjoyed "Believe" alot. Great Song !

There's always one "dissenter" in the bunch, so here goes....
"Believe" did nothing for me. Not a bad tune, but not that great, either.
What I DID like was "Tell You Again"... a really good song.
But the best song of the bunch, by far, was "Walk The Line". That song totally rawks, dude! It has a much better groove than the rest of the songs, and the vocals far outshine the others. It has a Robin Trower kind of feel to it.
I'd like to hear "Walk The Line" re-recorded on better equipment. Also, add a verse and/or chorus after the guitar solo at the end. That would be your "break-out hit", for sure.

Wow. Really, really loved it!

EXCELLENT guitar tone, and I liked the Alice-In-Chains kinda sound of the vocal/bg vocal combo.

Great energy, great recording, great song.

Dig it!

Heh. Musical tastes, I guess. I thought the guitars on "Walk the line" all sounded kinda "fake" and thin to me (some even seemed almost guitar-synth-like) compared to the presence and crunchiness of the guitars on "Believe".

I also felt like "Walk the Line" was a more "standard" funk feel that could have been written by almost any band, whereas "Believe" had more of it's own unique voice and vision.

Nothing against "Walk...", only my perceptions.

I guess my only point is that like all art, there is no "right" or "wrong", just opinions.

:D

(hey guys, it's me. Had a problem with my ID)

Thanks guys! I really appreciate all the comments.

Yes, naturally our stuff has a King's X edge to it, right now they're my biggest influence, although the singer and bass player bring other elements into the picture.

"Walk the Line" was actually a collaboration with another VS-1680 owner, Mike Buzzeti. He wrote and recorded all the music, mailed me the CD, then Tim and I wrote and recorded vocals, and I added a short guitar bit after the last chorus. He has an alternate arrangement on his site: mp3.com/e-buzz

Again, thanks!
