"Heaven And Hell"-Black Sabbath-Need critique/feedback on this song,please...

I recorded this version of "Heaven and Hell" on my Tascam 2488 Neo. I need some constructive critique on this song. What can I do to make it better? Does it sound good to your ears? I am aware of some plosives issues since I do not have a pop filter yet.
I recorded all tracks using my Yamaha MM8.
Thanks and I will appreciate all your feedback.

I'm no expert engineer so I will aim my comments toward the performance.
One of the things that make the original such a killer song is the sparseness of it.It is the perfect soundscape for the powerful vocal performance that Dio brought to it.
You seem to have a nice vocal range, but the delivery is tentative.Almost sounds like you are worried about waking some one up in the next room. You are going to have to really sing it like you mean it to make this sound convincing. Also, drop all of the extra melody lines you are adding. They dont work with the piece.
Anyway, good luck with it and hats off to you for picking a kick ass tune.

Thanks for your feedback. I am aware this song needs more vocal power than the one I put on it. This was my first song ever recorded and I just wanted to have fun on this one. Your input is appreciated.

This was a VERY ambitious (well known and idolized by many including myself) song to choose! I guess I'll start with a positive: Your voice is good, and capable to handle a song like this. However, perhaps you should have started with something easier, because your performance misses the mark in quite a few places. Oh, and get a pop filter or make one from nylons :). The other comment would be that you just can't cover a song like this armed with only your voice and a keyboard . It just doesn't sound right and it might me illegal in some circles ;)! I mean, you reproduced all the notes in the right places, but it just doesn't rock, because there's no real guitar melting your face off, not to mention bass and drums! You must be a very good keyboard player to have played all those parts though. Keyboards just make horrible guitars. You might be able to get away with the drums and bass, but you gotta have real guitar or it just sounds like you are making fun of the song. I hope I wasn't too harsh, but we try to realistic on the HR forum. Let me know if you need any more specific clarification on stuff.
:):D:cool:

Decent vocals...you need some real guitar players...Collaboration may be the way to go.

Very ambitious of you to take this on. I think the mix is pretty good.

The whole concept is kind of odd to me though. I mean, I actually really like the "guitar" sounds you have in here especially in some other context, but to cover a sabbath song with this kind of instrumentation without taking it in a totally different direction just seems strange to me. But whatever...good job learning all the parts and putting it together and stuff.

Keep in mind I'm more of a ozzy era fan myself, although I did own this and Mob Rules on cassette back in the day so I do know the tune.

to be honest I dont like the keyboard only take on the song (nothing wrong with the performance thougjh) - I do like the voice a lot although you, like me need to belt out the voice a bit more - unlike one of the previous replies I do like all of the extra harmonies on the voice - good work man on one of my favourite tracks from the Dio era Sabbath
