Searching for the sound
I am currently building a studio in my basement and have been trying to figure out how best to get heat (hot air) into the rooms without allowing sound to transmit between the rooms and into the rest of the house.

One thing that just occured to me was: Why not just run heat ducts to the spaces between the rooms? See the attached picture, the red X's are where I would put ducts.

The theory here is that if I can seal the spaces between the rooms well enough, the heat would migrate into the rooms with no problems when the doors (sliders) were open. This would most likely be all night or all day... I can't record 24/7 :) When the studio is in use, normal traffic between room should circulate enough air to keep things warm... If the doors are closed then what is being heated is the floor and outside of the walls... that can't be bad can it?

Am I insane ?
Kevin.

kevin - you need airflow!! when the doors are closed where will the air go, in fact when the doors are open where will it go ;)

cheers

Hmm... I guess your right, I was only thinking of heat, not air flow in general. Back to the drawing board.
