I walk the line
My search didn't find anything on this topic, blah, blah, blah, wasn't sure where to post, etc., etc., etc., you know the routine.

Just curious as to how often the pros get their hearing tested, and if there's anything special about how theirs is tested. Do you just go to a normal audiologist, or are there special tests for people in this field? I don't just want someone who says, "Well, your hearing is about normal for someone in your age group." I want specifics. I want to know, is there any sort of standardised hearing test for audio engineers? I want to know how my hearing stacks up against people who work in audio for a living, not just the average Joe.

If this topic has been covered elsewhere, my apologies and could you please point me in the right direction.

Thanks

They take 'em into a dim room, and shine a little light on each ear. If there's a golden reflection, their hearing is enginear level.

I get mine tested every 6-9 months just cause. I'm kinda a geek too.

C'mon people....
I want to know how my hearing stacks up against people who work in audio for a living, not just the average Joe.

You learn to hear, it's not a matter of having your hearing stack up to superman's...

The golden ears of the biz today weren't born with some kind of super-ear....They just learnt how to hear after years and years of careful listening in a studio environment...
So unless you've suffered some ear damage, stop worrying and start recording!
