Sennheiser HD280 Pros for sure. I had 'em on my head for about 4 hours straight yesterday and could have kept going. Did all my tracking - drums,bass,2 acoustic guitars,2 keyboards and 4 vocal tracks in one sitting and they performed fantastically. I wouldn't rely on them solely for mixing but they're great to recording and then A/B ing mixes with whatever monitors you have.

whats an average price on them things, my old headphones were broken, and i need some new ones before i begin to record again from my home.......

I have Sennheiser HD595 connected to sound card thru british amp Creek OBH21.
On Sennheisers web HD595 are in "Audiophiles" class, not the "Studio" class (same group as HD650) but the quality of the sound is on a high level so they can be also used for studio monitoring.
Other cheap options are AKG K240 or 271 and definitely HD 280 Pro.
If you are willing to pay little more bucks and want something very good look at HD650 or better ones AKG K701.

aye Fov, whats the difference between the K240's and the K701's besides the price range, fill a newb in...... i don't wanna go cheap, just because it's "cheap" ya'know! i wanna know the pro's and con's of it all!

One big difference would be that the k701's sound better than the k240's. But headphones should always be thought of as a secondary reference point after a good monitor setup. There are times when I will begin creating a song using only my headphones for the first three hours and I will get it sounding great, then come back to it the next day and listen through my monitors. The mix almost always has very noticeable balance and tonal issues when I give it a first listen on my monitors. Almost always a given.

the HD280 Pro are nice. i don't use them for mixing, but i DO use them when checking reference material vs my mixes. nice for tracking too, pretty good isolation.
