Hello . My name is John Tafaro. I have been using various audio software and hardware since 1996. I really want to maximize my "situation" so here is my home recording set-up etc.

Homebuilt P4 3.0 , 1.5 gig RAM, M-Audio Firewire Solo
Nuendo for mixing with B-control.
Homebuilt AMDSempron 1.5 gig RAM
Pro-Tools M-Box.

I am recording with SPDIF to the Pro Tools Box. I live in an apartment and have to watch cords and stuff in my small space. My other added pain is I can not use my KRK Rokit-5 monitors because my upstairs neighbor bangs a broom on the floor at ANY volume level.

I have to mix through my SennheiserHD280 headphones.

For what I have to work with:

I am open to suggestions and tips before I upload any-more. I have also found out that I have TMJ which can cause ear pain. But I want to make music. Let me know what you think.

Speaking of not being able to listen to something.... I'm at work so no clicky for me...

Also, I can sympathize with your apartment volume problem... Mine drove me back to the parental abode (no free ride.. I pay rent)... Now I can freely experience felonious volume during the 8am - 5pm weekday hours... And boy is it worth it (for the most part :o )!

Johnmix,
I listened with h/phones. I was only able to get the lo version though which may explain the bass drum issue below.
The basic track sounded fine - the snare was a bit inconsistent though & I couldn't really hear a bass/kick drum.
The lead line/melody is good but I sensed a lot of hesitancy with it's performance. Is that me?
Nice chill out feel.
Cheers

Cool not as bad as I thought. What I meant with "Headphones" is basically , every forum I have read seems to make mixing in headphones sacreligeous and evil. In my situation I have to use them, period. Thank you for the feedback, look foreward to more.

I have to give you props for cutting through it all and doing it regardless of what everyone says... After all, its the music-making that's the most important part, right?

Oh I am so with you on that one. In my podcast I do a little rant each week and this is pretty much the subject of this week's, all about how the "experts" so rarely take account of the circumstances of us poor inoccent question askers. There is no way I can mix without headphones so the only other choice is to give up music - seems to miss the point really.

OK, I think expert is a bad word I will remain a "padwan learner" as long as i can. thanks.

typing as i listen.

kick gets a bit buried in the mix, covered a fair amount by the bass i think.
the trumpet sounds a bit "boxey", as does the sax. perhaps you're picking up a lot of room sound? either that or you need to tweak your reverb sound.
the keyboards sound really nice and lush, i like it a lot
the snare sound really doesn't do it for me..got that whole gated-reverb feel going on.
the mix as a whole seems a bit left-biast to me..but that's rather subjective.

nice chilled-out groove you got going on there, the only major thing i can really here is the lack of kick. i think it might need to go a little punchier than that. the rest is pretty subjective.

cool work!
