I need to add some headphones to the equipment I already have.

Can you recommend some - again I need to be reasonable in price - I am a storyteller and work with the spoken word and musical background.

You really need to start using the search function - everything you've asked has been answered on this board a million times...okay...maybe only a thousand times:)

Yeah, but don't feel too bad about it. They could lock the whole bbs down today and it would be a treasure trove of valuable information for years to come.

I use these $25 Sonys from Circuit City. They sound pretty good and uncolored to me.

Yup.......

Sennheiser Hd 280 pro. They are comfortable, cancel out quite a bit of outside noise, and can get pretty loud if you need them to. Not to mention that they sound pretty nice.

Good all-round headsets...search for "More Me's". Killer price, way excellent warranty, but,... don't get caught feeding the bear! Don't say I didn't warn you.

I have a case sensitive question: I am doing a storytelling recording for my grandfather's 100th birthday...he is hard of hearing and has two hearing aids...still has trouble even with them...trouble reading/seeing...gift must be an auditory one.

What headphones would be best for him to be able to listen...must shut down all outside noise for it to work with him...please only answers that are helpful please..thank you inadvance

check the Extreme Isolation headphones.

Or the MoreMe's; they're loud in the midrange and they have decent isolation.

But why use headphones at all? Just hit record, let him talk, and edit anything you don't like later. Story telling is an art that isn't comfortable in isolation. Put some people in the room with him, and turn him loose (with a little live prompting). Screw the headphones.

Really nice idea Harvey...but 'I" am recording for him...I am doing a storytelling cd as a gift to him...I always promised him I would do a 'story' of his life...and this is where it begins..it would be great if we 'could' also do your idea...but...not possible now...but thank you for your thoughts

I just bought three used(only once for a gig) pairs of MoreMe's and they sound great. Although a bit uncomfortable around the ears.. I'm hoping they'll break in soon enough. The leakage on these things are barely audible also.. big bang for the buck.

Just bend the metal flanges out a little bit.

Ah, okay, got it. Sorry about the misunderstanding. Yeah, the MoreMe Deluxe would probably work great for him.

At around $50 - $60 the Sennheiser HD212 Pro's are good with decent isolation. I currently have three pairs of these, along with MoreMe's (deluxe), a pair of Sony 75 series, and Sennheiser HD280 Pros. I have to say that the HD212's are my favourite. The MoreMe's are certainly useable and I like the repair/return policy; but the fidelity compared with the other is lacking in my opinion.

Do you just need the headphones to give you the musical cues to tell the story to? In that case basically all you need is headphones that can tell you where you are. Don't spend a lot of money if that's all you're using them for. If it were me I'd grab somebody's Discman headphones and plug them in.

Will do.. thanks for the tip Harvey! And yeah I have the Deluxe versions too.. like I said.. best bang for the buck.

In my opinion, too. But, as you mention, the repair/return policy makes up for a lot, and they are indeed usable and very inexpensive.
