Headphones for minimal sound leakage?

I'm looking for headphones, mainly for monitoring vocals during tracking. My primary concern is sound leakage not the quality of the sound.
I guess the Beyer DT100's are the obvious choice....do any of you guys use/recomend anything other than the dt100's?
Thanks

The Sony 7506's do a very good job. The Sennheiser HD280's are alleged to be good for that purpose too. I'm going to get a set of the Sennheiser's because the Sony's are sort of uncomfortable to me. Too tight on the head. But they probably have to sit fairly tight in order to keep out the bleed.

Here's a poor man's solution (don't laugh!)

Step 1: go buy a pair of walkman ear bud style headphones - the kind that Don't have a hard plastic or metal headband. IE the ones that tuck into your ear (and usually fall out).
Step 2: go to the hardware store and buy a set of those hearing protector widgets that look like big yellow earmuffs, put them on over top of your ear buds.

Turns out the hearing protectors keep earphone noise from leaking out just as well as outside noise getting in.

You may have to buy an adapter plug, to go from mini to "standard" headphone jack. Get the headphobe cable version, you'll likely need an extension on the ear bud anyhow.

I did this to stop the click track in my headphones from leaking in to the mic while recording my acoustic. It worked great!

yep,I'm cheap!

Compared to the Dt100's, the sennheisers are about 20% cheaper & the sony's about 20% more expensive. The senn's claim to have a better 'sonic seal'....32db....compared to the sony's & dt100's.
Hmm....looks like the senn's are out in front at the moment.

But what's this....I have a set of those in ear walkman 'phones & I reckon those industrial ear defenders are pretty cheap...I may try this but I reckon any bleed reduction may be cancelled out by the sound of people pissing themselves laughing at the sight of it! :)
Good idea though. I think I will give it a go! I could use them when I'm doing recordings on my own. How vain!

Thanks guys.....anyone else use anything different?

One Better

Go to your local Radio Shack.
They have a set of high Isolation headphones for use at racetracks for listening to the radio announcers. It is about $50.
It has a mono mini plug but you can get a mini mono to 1/4 stereo adapter while you are there. I use them weekly with great results, and the sound is'nt half bad either.

No clear favourite emerging at the moment then.
A couple of mentions for the Senn HD280Pro's though.

I've been offered a good price on a pair of DT250's....any opinions on them?

Ive used the semi open ones with a hot signal without any bleed whatsoever on vocals. now on a drummers mix going into overheads, expecially ecm8000s thats a different story, that indusrial ear protection things may be the ticket for that.

Saw a review of the AudioTechnica ATH-M30's last month, about $70, loud, comfortable, good sound, and really good isolation. Think it was in either EM or Recording, their comments not mine, since I've not heard them... Steve

5c0tt,
I have three of the DT250's and are very happy with them. They sound good, have a minimum of leakage and the cable can easily be changed (very good) and they feel good to wear too.

You'll not be dissatisfied.
