I know there was a previous thread about this but it seems no one has been on that since May of 02'

I am currently using ATH-D40's (Audio Tech) simply because I like the bass response while recording. It doesn't matter how good your phones are when it comes time to mix because speaker monitors are the only way to go.

But if you (Like me) prefer to record with phones, I'm wondering what models are closet to JBL monitors? Also the price has to be no more than $125 USD

Thanks

ummm, none, sorry, i know thats not what you want to hear.

I don't know about being close to "JBL" monitors but the Sony Mdr-7506 seem to be what alot of engineers use. I think they are known for having a bit of an exagerated low end but its been a while since I have used a pair. There are a few other brands that are comparable to the sonys. I have a post about this a few threads down but haven't gotten very many replys.

:D Yo Harley David: [You aren't related to a cycle are you?:}

Try on a pair of Beyer cans. Either the 250 model if it's still being made or the cushy 770s with velvet.

Nice sound, nice response and within your price range, maybe a few pezzutos over but worth it.

Buy your cans from a major vendor who will take them back if you don't like them; of course there might be the old "restocking" fee and you almost always lose the shipping charges.

One vendor I deal with wanted to send me five different mics to try out. Keep what I wanted and send back the rest. Nice way to do biz.
