head or cab (dumb...)

which is more important to your overall sound? I have a legacy cab and head. Im not totally satisfied with it so I was thinking of either getting an Avatar Cab or a Marshall jcm800 which would be more beneficial as the first?

The head. I don't know what speakers are in the cab, but over all I would guess a new head. But go play the head on your cab. (yes, take your cab with ignor any hesitations they might have....but they shouldn't)

yeah guitar center will stretch a lot if they know you're going to be spending a lot of money.

head.......but don't under estimate how much speakers play a part in tone. different speakers can make a huge difference in tone but only if the tone is there to begin with.
