HD24 with Lightpipe

So if I had a 9652 or similar cards with 24 channels of ADAT/Lightpipe, would I able to go from the computer (put effects on certain tracks), lightpiped to the HD24 (for conversion), which would then send to the mixing board, and then have a sum coming back to the HD24 to record (conversion again) the final mix?

I am just making sure I am not missing something obvious.
 
In a word, yup. I use a MOTU 2408 mkII between the computer and HD24 as a 24 channel sound card so I can mix on a console. You can use plug ins and hardware side by side in real time.
