I have a Masterlink and haven't decided whether to get the HD24XR or a high end SIAB. Do any of you guys mix down to a Masterlink from your HD24? If so, do you go through a digital or analog mixer? Thanks.

I mix digital from the HD24 via a Sony DMXR100 to the Masterlink.... the sound is amazing!!!
whoa...when did you get that sony?

Early Jan., but it only got installed a couple of weeks ago.

Okay, but can anyone recommend an affordable mixer to use for mixing from the HD24 to the masterlink?

I'm mixing through the new Soundcraft LX7 II. It was reasonable and I have been very happy with it.

I use a Behringer DDX3216 with my HD24 and Masterlink. Digital all the way, I never had any trouble with it. I see the DDX3216 is selling for $599 lately, I think it's quite a bargain, but I'm sure the resident Behringer bashers who never used one will disagree.

Thanks for the replies. I have a Mackie 1202. It's not a digital board, but I like it. What do you think about mixing analog? Bad idea?

Masterlink?

Just curious to know if it seemed like you were getting a better final mix mastering with the masterlink or keeping it inside your DAW and mastering with say, Wavelab or Soundforge?

I have recently only been using my Mackie 32/8 for monitoring the tracking. All my inputs to my HD24 are from Presonus DigiMax or through a couple ADATs that I have hooked to the HD24 with Avalon or TCE preamps on the front end. After tracking, I am moving everything to ProTools LE for mix down.

I have not been real pleased with the results on trying to mix on the Mackie board. ProTools gives much more control over the final result, plus I can still use my outboard effects.
