Hi all! I have a HD24 which I'm very pleased with, I also have a Soundtracs PC MIDI analouge mixing console with midi muting. The trouble is, I don't use a sequencer, so how can I get my midi muting to work? I do have a pc though and can get pretty much any sequencer if I must, but it would purely be used for this purpose. What I'm after is the simplest cure to this problem, hopefully without a steep learning curve! (i.e. Am I going to have to learn how to use a sequencer just to control my mutes? If so, which can I learn the quickest?). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Seeing how this is a Soundtracs PC MIDI analouge mixing console issues and not an HD24 one, you have posted this question in the wrong place. Nonetheless, I will try to help you as much as I can.

Since your mixer has midi capabilities, you must use some sort of midi sequencer for it to work. I could only suggest some version of Cakewalk/Sonar. Just about any version will do since you are just using MIDI. You will most likely need to use the HD24 as your master MIDI clock so you can keep the mutes in time with the music.

Afte submitting my previous post, you may be able to connect the HD24 directly to your mixer as the MIDI host , but your mixer would then need to be able to make snapshots at the times where things are muted and unmuted. If that is posible, that is the way I would go since you have no other need for MIDI. Do you have a manual for your mixer?

Hi! I do have a manual, but it's very sketchy on this subject (made LONG before the advent of the HD24!). It does mention snapshots though. What I'm unclear on is how the HD24 will "tell" the desk to change snapshots at different times, any clue? This would definately be a great way for me, if this is possible! Thanks again!

I am making an educated guess here: You should be able to program the mutes to come on and off on your board based on the MTC (MIDI Time Code) provided by the HD24. You will have to set your board up as the Slave and the HD24 as the Master.

What does your manual for your board tell you about being a slave for MTC?

I checked, and it won't be a slave to MTC. Oh well, I'll just have to sort out a sequencer I guess. Thanks very much for your advice, and sorry about posting my question in "the wrong place"!
Cheers!
