HD24 help

I've recorded a solo track on an HD24 at a studio....the background track (stereo 2 channel imported from an audio cd) has some noise in a spot. I've redone the background track and removed the noise and have it on an audio cd.

Question:

Can I replace the old, noisy track with the new one, and if so, how complicated will it be getting the new one "lined up" with the solo track? It's the very same track as the old one, just cleaner. The studio that I'm using has a 64 channel SSL board, but there's no computer interface, so my limited technical knowledge doesn't see how I can do this.

Anybody have any idea?
 
The HD24 does allow you to time offset a track(s); assuming the time disparity isn't that much, this feature may get you around the problem.
 
If there's a common timepoint you can use for alignment, you can fly it in by approximation - as long as you get it within 170mS of the other, you can use the track offset feature of the HD24 to move it into place more precisely...
 
Chapter 6, P.63 - Editing. The maximum 'track slip' available is 170 milliseconds (0.17 of a second), so you'll have to be already within that error margin to be able to solve the problem with this method.

Can you copy and past the track after this and do it again if you're still not within the 170ms limit?

I had a synching problem between two drum tracks and the rest of a song (18 more tracks of gtr, bass, vox etc).

I ended up using the editing to sync the drums with the rest of the music, and was very pleased with the outcome!

It definately can be done, GHawk. If you want to hear how my song turned out, let me know and I will send you a link.
 
I'd transfer the wav file from the HD24 into a DAW and then import the CD to the same DAW and line up the wave forms.
 
Thanks, all. We did the deed today and it came out great. The engineer flew the track in and it was almost dead on before the shift...he shifted it slightly - the whole process took less than five minutes.

My project is OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
