I don't ever use this but was playing around transfering 1 wave to computer and it fails. I enter utility mode,FTP etc. It starts to transfer the wave then stops and goes to "enable ftp". On the HD24 for some reason it illuminates the "Auto, rec, play, rtn" lights. There then is a transfer error message on my pc.Now I always use fireport or real time with my 2408mkIII. I have done ftp transfers in the past and all worked fine. If I need to update from Alessis, how do I do this. Ethernet wire directly into HD24? Off computer and save to CD? Then how into HD24. Oh, and Bear and Trackrat are 100% right. Get the firewire or motu. It saves SSSOOOOOO much time it's crazy! 30 minutes compared to 2 minutes.
Thanks, Jim

I've transferred over 80GB of audio from my HD24 via ethernet in the past week. It works fine. I recommend making sure that the source and target of your FTP are on the same LAN segment for best results. I have in the past seen problems when there was a switch in between the two, so there may be a compatibility issue there.

I don't generally use the ethernet connection since getting the Firewire, but prior to that I certainly used it frequently without a problem... The HD24 needs its own dedicated IP number on your network, and you can FTP to/from it via FTP software or by setting up a "network drive" in Windows Explorer.

If you're having issues - it's not likely to be the fault of the HD24 though.... maybe a poor ethernet cable or some other network/routing glitch with your computer (if you use a firewall, you need to add the HD24 IP as a trusted address)....

I have used the ftp before and have not changed anything since then. I just wanted to edit one track and send it back and mix on my console. As I said I have fireport amd Motu mk III. Both are my normal method of transfering files. I'm realy just playing but it bugs me it wont work presently when I used to do this all the time. It goes into transfer mode with the message that it is transfering on the HD24,the quickly goes to a funky red lettered rec, rtn, ply. on the HD24

Weird... do you have some sort of network transfer timeout going on? Firewall??
