I´m planning to buy a new HD for audio and found that there are some running at 7200 with diferent acess time. How important is this issue?
And HD at 10000 and 15000 rpm, are good for recording? They worth the price?
Thanks in advance

10K and 15K drives would be SCSI, and you would not only have to pay the higher price for the drive, but also for a SCSI controller. Worth the extra cost? If you have to ask the question, then the answer is definately no!

Don't sweat the seek time, all 7200RPM drives will be similar and vary slightly for a variety of reasons.

Thanks Slackmaster 2000

What about the buffer, the more it has the better?:)

Sure! Still not a big deal though...most'll come with 4 or 8MB.

Ok, so you´re

telling me that, for audio aplications a regular HD running at 7200 rpm will do the job! Right?

Unless you plan on recording 50 tracks at 24 bit any consumer 7200 rpm drive should be fine. The bigger the drive the better.

My system drive is only 5,400 rpm, while my data drive is 7,200 rpm and I have had no problems so far (except for that stupid mistake I had in assigning UDMA's). Is 7,200 really a standard for audio? Or is this some kind of lower limit for data drives?
