Hello everyone Im a 54 year old , been playing piano since I was 10 and guitar since 15. I bought a Tascam US-122 a little while ago and it came with Cubase LE .I played around a little bit with that combination then I got Cubase 4, Been having fun just playing around, but now I want to get serious .I read so much it get confusing. what tracks do you lay down first. a drum track or just a track with me playing the song on a guitar then start from there. I was thinking of buying EZ drummer . If anyone could just give me some steps on how they do things I would be very greatfull

i hope you enjoy your stay.
If i was you i'd go with the flow if you've written a guitar part set the metronome up in cubase and record it first.
If you have a paino part do it first.
If needs be make a scratch track and find the tempo from there using beat calcultor in cubase.

My prefered method of working when composing music first is to make a drum track, bass, guitars , keys , horn, strings whatever i have in mind
the drum track influances the bass ergo the same for the rest
I call it groove up
this is just one method and it often helps my workflow.
theres plenty more ways just have fun and enjoy.
