Have You Used this MIC?

Nope but kudos to you for using more than the average p.o.s. "mic" that most hip hop artists use around here.

There's not really anything technically advantageous about ribbon mics in general. They often have a quasi-figure-eight pattern, which can be used to advantage in some cases or can be a liability on other cases. The reason to use one is if it happens to make some particular source sound good, which depends on the source, the room and the mix. If you have more than one mic try them all until you find the one that works best. As you build up your mic collection and your experience you'll begin to get a sense of what mic is most likely to sound best given the other variables.

Best advantage that works well with recording with a ribbon microphone is the null side rejection.

I wouldn't consider a move from a 4047 to a tlm 103 much of an upgrade. I find that ribbons are more sensitive to velocity in ways that condensers and certainly dynamics arent. Not saying More sensitive but more in the way the mic's frequency response reacts to different levels of input. Smoother is an overused word but appropriate here.

I had a non-phantom version of that AEA on long term loan a few years back and loved it.
