Hastings, a song about my hometown.

That outro guitar that comes in about 3.20 - I'd want to double it at least from the part where it goes up an octave, maybe the whole part.

Really like the song. I think the mix is pretty close too.

You don't sound British, and you say sidewalks instead of pavements. How did it turn out to be your home town?

I think it's about Hastings-on-Hudson, NY?

This sounds really familiar. Did you post this one here before?

Sounds good. I really, really like the chord progressions here.

Thanks everyone! Glad you guys are enjoying it.
Heatmister: I did post it up. This is a different recording though. The last one was kinda a rush job. It is in fact about Hastings on Hudson. :D Glad the lyrics are accurate enough for you to figure that out. Have you been through the area?
Dobro: I have 4 other takes of the solo along with another take with a fuzz pedal rather than a boost pedal. I'll try to experiment with that.

Hi

I'm not an expert, but I'd have the vocals very slightly louder. The lyrics are understandable already, but they sound a little soft. Sounds great :)

I've been to Hastings on the south coast of England. I really liked, but I could see how it might be boring to a teenager living there. But mostly it's lovely, so that's why I was curious about which Hastings you were referring so entertainingly to.

croplyb: Is there a specific section of the song where the vocals are too quiet? there is a good amount of automation and since I know the words sometimes it is hard to tell if the vocals are too low in the mix.
Dobro: I've never been to England, the song is about Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. I feel most places are somewhat boring as a teenager. There's not much to do besides causing shenanigans which is why I spend a good amount of time rockin' out.

Personally, I would boost the vocals by about 1dB, maybe 2, through the whole song, not because of any problem understanding the words, just because they sound slightly quieter than the guitars. I'm listening on headphones with low bass and low treble response, but I'd guess that shouldn't make much difference here as both the vocals and guitars are in the mid-range mostly. Also, I'm a fairly recent newcomer to the world of mixing, so take my advice with a few grains of salt. :)

Hope that helps,
Bruce
