i have a Electric yamaha drum set..and i have some trigger thats i bought for 40 bucks.. i want to put the triggers on the drum pads and run them into my firepod and use drumagog to sample each hit and for cymbals..i have a real crash, ride and china and i could mic those and record the cymbals and the trigger drum hts all at once in real time? is this possible..or even a good idea?

You mean instead if micing up the kit? Could work. Like you say you'll still need a couple of mics for the cymbals

yeah just micing up the cybals and using triggers for the snare, toms and kick

It is possible and does work assuming that just putting triggers on drumpads will work.

One time I used my dad's v-drums w/ real cymbals and just used overheads on the cymbals.. It came out pretty good. The pad hits will show up in the OHs a litte but the rest of the drums pretty much cancelled it out.

You should be able to use your Yamaha's MIDI outs (If equipped) to trigger your samples without the need for additional trigger's.

I was just thinking about doing the exact same thing, but with different mediums.

I got a Percussion Plus junior drumset for free, 17" BD, 8 10 and 13" toms, 12" snare. It sounds like crap, but I was thinking of putting mesh heads and triggers, and run the triggers directly to the Firepod, no drum module. And see if DFH would replace the tracks recorded with the triggers.

The thing is, I already have pretty awesome real drum samples, so I don't see the point of buying a drum module with computer generated sounds, just to use it as an audio to MIDI interface... :(

Does anybody know if this will work?? I'd like to know before spending the money.
