I have been seriously considering taking Steinberg up on their crossgrade over to Steinberg SX from Logic for 299 Euros/dollars. Teh cool thing is that you can keep your Logic Software. In fact I called Steinberg and emagic will never even know that you have done it. This seems like a cool cheap way to get a really expensive piece of software for half price. Even if you never use it, I am sure that sooner or later you will know someone that would love to use it. It seems to be an oversight on the part of Steinberg to allow people to just buiy their flagship product for half price. I am sure that they are not hurting in the finance dept. though. Anyway, just a thought. Is anyone doing this?
I can't see myself actually making the switch over to Steinberg after 3 years with Logic... but it seems like at least something to think about.

Cakewalk has a better crossgrade to Sonar 2.0 XL for logic users as well as Cubase users

Yeah, go Cakewalk! :D

But seriously, it's a very good offer from Cakewalk.

I'd take Cubase SX over Sonar 2.0 any day. I've played with both. Cubase SX is like Nuendo and then some. I'm not dissing Sonar by any means, though. SX is just that good. And this is coming from someone who never liked VST.

Does this include the mini version of Logic that came with the Delta 1010- known as Logic Delta?

Probably, not....but it's worth a try....Just don't tell them your version of Logic came free with the Delta..Don't tell them it's the 'Delta Logic'..The hitch here might be if you need a serial number..Does Delta Logic come with a serial number for registration? My guess is that Steinberg is going to make sure you're using a 'full' version of Logic.

Speaking of Logic. I understand they merged with Apple and in the future will not support the Windows version. They are offering a crossover to Mac for the current PC users.
Does anyone know the scoop on this ??

According to issue 50 of CM, Logic 5.2 is available for Windows. However, Emagic will not be distributing any new copies of Logic for PC after September 30. Registered Windows Logic 5 users ready to switch to Mac are eligible for a free crossgrade until December 31. Of course, this offer includes a brand new G4 absolutely free. ;)

Logic

Yeah... Logic is a gonner for PC users. Apple bought the company and their first executive decission was to chop off 70,000 PC users of any updates for Logic Audio Platinum. What I do find funny however is that emagic had earlier in the year acquired from a company called Sekd the program "Samplitude". This is some high powered mastering/audio editing software. Anyway, it is ONLY offered on the Windows platform and will continue to be distributed as a Windows only product after the Sept. 30th cut off date for all their other products.

Business is an odd world.

I see cubase vst as win95, nuendo as NT or 2000, and SX as Win XP. And sonar, logic and the rest are like apple, beos, and what's the other one that used to be around?

SX is pretty cool...
