I have that same set, and it went a long way toward improving my sound. I already had
an AKG D550, which I think is a better kick mic than
the KBM-412 (or whatever that CAD is called), so I don't even use the low freq mic from that set. As a result, I didn't really do much experimenting with using it--from my cursory tests, the reason I stuck with
the D550 was that the CAD attenuates so drastically in higher frequencies that you don't get especially good attack--just bass--which can mud things up. Again, though--this is based on very little experimentation. I'm sure you'll find something you deem acceptable by messing around with different positions, angles, techniques, etc.
The twin condensers do a fine job as overheads, and the dynamic tom capsules are well worth the money too. I would suggest getting an SM-57 for the snare though. Hell, it's only $90, and it's what the pros use on their snares.
Bottom line: if you're looking to mic up your kit, you can't beat the price. I have no regrets about buying this set, so I say go for it.
