Has anyone had expierience with CAD Drum Mics?

I have a realitively low budget and I was looking into getting This Pack

Are these mics any good?

They're supposively CAD's top of the line Drum Mic Pack.

sorry I don't have much experience. You should know 1 or 2 great mics can do better than 7 mediocre mics. for example a pair of sm57's there all around and work almost on everything especially drums. and only 160$ mmm tempting.

as he may be right BUT!

that set of cad mic's had many reviews on it last month saying hwo good they are or the price. my suggesiton is get them, and dont worry about it. setting it up right, will make your kti sound so well. i have a set of samson mic's which are very similar and have never steared me wrong. granted i use a beta 52a ick mic, but still, the kick mic in my kit is amazing.

go with the cad, you wont go wrong

I have that same set, and it went a long way toward improving my sound. I already had an AKG D550, which I think is a better kick mic than the KBM-412 (or whatever that CAD is called), so I don't even use the low freq mic from that set. As a result, I didn't really do much experimenting with using it--from my cursory tests, the reason I stuck with the D550 was that the CAD attenuates so drastically in higher frequencies that you don't get especially good attack--just bass--which can mud things up. Again, though--this is based on very little experimentation. I'm sure you'll find something you deem acceptable by messing around with different positions, angles, techniques, etc.

The twin condensers do a fine job as overheads, and the dynamic tom capsules are well worth the money too. I would suggest getting an SM-57 for the snare though. Hell, it's only $90, and it's what the pros use on their snares.

Bottom line: if you're looking to mic up your kit, you can't beat the price. I have no regrets about buying this set, so I say go for it.

I bought a secondhand CAD drum mike set a while ago (KBM412 plus two overheads plus two dynamics) at a very good price. My reason for buying was that I didn't have a decent kick mike so I took a gamble.

Of the kit, I mainly use the 412, and I find it works ok. I daresay there is better out there, but it will do me for the time being. I haven't had occasion to use the other mikes much, because I have others I prefer instead.

I had the CAD pro 4-piece for a while until I sold it. It's a decent set, definitely worth the money. The premium pack can only be better I guess.
