Hartke Guitar Cabs?

I was at a friend's house and in his basement I noticed a pair of Hartke 4x10 XL cabinets with aluminum cones. I thought: sweet bass cabs. But they turned out to be guitar cabs, it even said so on them. My friend said, they were only made for a limited time. They sounded pretty clean, but he didn't have a real guitar head driving them, so I couldn't get a fair test. Does anyone know about these?

I've seen the 10" cabs for bass. Probably the same damn thing, different label.

Those aluminum cones are great. Our bassist loves it.

I remember when they made those. I tried one, being an incorrigible gearhead and they sounded really tight, focused and punchy. They weren't really my cup of stout, but they had a cool sound nonetheless. Here's a really weird one, though. I got an old Marshall head in trade for a Fender Twin and the guy also gave me an Ampeg V-9 cabinet which was an SVT (8x10) cab except it had NINE 10" speakers mounted in three "V" shaped arrays stacked vertically and it was marketed as a guitar cab. I found it so amusing that they'd take the 8x10 cab and add one more speaker! I wonder if the ad read "12.5% more speaker area than before!"
