The Pie Guy
This week's theory lesson for joro.....

Tonic...............
Sub-Dominant.............
Dominant..............
first, fourth and fifth....in any key....

opened my eyes and ears to the synergy of music....
very cool... :D

I'll have my tonic with gin.
A fifth ought to do nicely.:D

Oh God…my head hurts. I think I remember about some of that stuff from way back when :D

Yup

My brain hurts too :D

sort of starting to make sense to me now though..........

scary..........

I suppose it would help if I could...speak Belgique...
or French...
or be as smart as Roel :D

and Bob...
I like Crown Royal with my tonic....
ginger ale that is...
Hi-ball ala' natural :D

I always remember somebody explaining how to sing harmony. It's easy - just keep changing the note until everybody in the room stops wincing:D

any two notes played together are a harmony. Some dissonant some not.

Very true....
perhaps I should have said "good" harmony ;)

C-ya :D

Throw in a secondary dominant (the fifth of the fifth) and open some more doors...in fact, keep adding fifths to that and then play the sequence back until you reach the tonic....a simple song bridge ini the making.

Yep!

It took getting into country music (fiddle work) for me to fully appreciate (and expect) the secondary dominant. It's used alot in that genre.

All this talk about theory reminds me I need to go back to my guitar teacher...

theory is gooooooooood. Harmony is gooooooooood.

My teacher told me counterpoint is the real thing and harmony is just the start of it. So next year, or maybe in 2 years (depending on the program I'll follow) the real fun will start. Oh jäj.

And you don't need to talk "belgique" for that. (We talk dutch in this part of belgium btw, but I like french more. On girls that is, but there's no real reason to talk to guys anyway. Is there? :D) More than half of the books on music I read/study are in English.
