Anyone know a good harmonizer plug-in or any other really good vocal targeted plug-in's?

I used to be an Autotune user but have switched to Celemony Melodyne

No comparison! Blows Autotune away! While overuse can be detected, tweaking here and there is almost never heard.

A common response around here is, "Learn how to sing." And that's good advice. But that's not something you can tell someone who's paying you $35-$40 dollars an hours. It's very easy to record that bad vocal and correct it after their gone.

My 2¢...

So, Celemony Melodyne functions as a harmonizer?

I read breafly on their site and it seems like it's a recording program in itself, though....

Go through the demo and you'll see it very capable of making multiple part harmonies.

As well as stretching and manipulating formants. :)

It's funny...I came here to ask the EXACT same question...and I found yours. I do have an answer though...It just doesn't work well on my particular system.

DSPFX has a bundle of plugs...one of them is a pitch shift. It's stereo only...no multitrack 10 level harmonizing, but the CPU usage is next to nothing...so it can be used real time on a vocal track w/ no big drain. It does allow the harmonizer effect where you can alter the pitch of the l/r channel (detune slightly) for that "phazy" effect.

Here's the site: www.dspfx.com

My trouble is that it locks up Sonar periodically...there may be a conflict w/ either my dual athlon based hardware or perhaps other plugs don't like it either...I don't know. I do know that if I don't use it, my system is rock solid. Using it seems to bring on the instability. I don't think this is a widespread issue. I do recommend the DSPFX highly.

But not for me.

Which brings us back to the question asked first in this thread...

THANKS for the suggestions! (That Akai plug does look interesting-anyone have any others?)

Waves has a few of these. They also do intelligent pitch shifting, so the harmonies are always in key and formant manipulation.

True, but due to CPU resource consumption, real time usage is virtually impossible. I've not been able to utilize them as a real time track plug in, and I have a fairly high powered dual processor rig. Therefore, their use is limited to destructive editing...as far as I know...I must admit I haven't used them extensively because of my initial experiences. Is there one that is efficient enough to work in real time?

I just read the directions and gave the ultrapitch plug demo from Waves a whirl...and it's not as bad on the CPU as I expected...actually not bad at all.

Previously, everytime I tried something...it would lock up Sonar and turn off the audio.

No problem in this run, though.

Thought I'd pass it along.
