I use Cubase SX3 for my recording needs..my question is that..I want to insert effects into my recording track on Cubase so i can monitor VSTs such as reverb, delay etc. in real-time through my outboard mixer. How can i really do this? Im not really an experienced cubase user, so i really need help. Maybe i have to turn-off software monitor since my audio interface doesnt have multiple outputs. So basically my mic is connected to my mixer then to audiophile 2496. and i want to send back the effects from cubase to my mixer in real-time so i can hear the effects as i record....

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

You'll probably have better results if you buy a $99 reverb just to listen to while recording for inspiration, but without recording it. This article from EQ magazine shows how to do that:

Computers are not realtime, that's the bottom line. You won't be able to do that in real time. However, since reverb comes a little bit later than the source signal anyway, it could be used, but it's not common practice and it sertainly isn't handy or quick. You have to set things up so that you only output the reverb, and not the origional track (meaning using the verb as a send, not an insert, and not selecting software monitoring for the source track), while using outboard monitoring for the source signal, because I don't think Cubase or your soundcard (or any soundcard for that matter) can do software monitoring AND hardware monitoring at the same time, BUT I might be wrong about that!
