Linking to an already finished project is considered bad taste.
If you have something you want feedback on, upload it on a different account.

I found it to be a simple rock bass groove with drums and a bit of guitar.

What kind of feedback were you looking for? Doesn't seem to be a tune/mix. More like a metronome with some embellishments.

Well just because its on youtube doesn't mean its a finished product, in fact its just a backing track at this point, as the video states. I will be adding more guitars before I release the finished product. I'm looking for feedback on the sound quality and the mix. Is the bass a good level compared to the drums? how is the bass tone? How do the drums sound? etc. Thats the kind of feedback I'm interested in.

At the moment, the bass pretty much dominates, but if you're adding more later--esp guitars, I'm not so sure that will remain the case.

Nothing is a finished product until it has a barcode on it.
it amazes me how picky some of you are on what is suitable for critique.
The man asked for input, so give him input
A youtube video cam always be deleted and a new one uploaded.

I find nothing about his post in "bad taste"

It's because often, very often, people only look for click counts on their youtube page. When your time here goes past 3 minutes you'll see it for yourself. It's been an ongoing thing. They waste everyone's time. Another thing is that someone will post a finished piece, maybe even commercially released already with no chance of a remix, and they'll come looking for "feedback", when really they're just advertising. There's a lot of taking and no giving in here. That's what the marketing section is for. Someone with an actual want for actual mix feedback, who will later go back and make adjustments or corrections, will host a file that isn't a mangled youtube spam. Now you know.

Hallelujah!

Don't get me wrong, we welcome new members. There is a certain amount of ettiquite that is desired when posting in here though. It's almost impossible to distinguish between a released track on youtube and somebody just advertising their channel.

I'd give OP the benefit of the doubt since he's new and I'd gladly have a listen if it wasn't a youtube link.

I can see all of the above points. I didn't get the impression that the op was spamming. Thats all.
As far as "completed" stuff, I posted some myself. I cannot remix at this point, but from the feedback I got have been able to rethink things and make changes in the future. Its all good.
question; whats the issue with youtube, that you wouldnt want to click a link?
Adware?

I guess that the assumption is that YouTube is usually used for finished products and also they compress audio so you wouldn't want to use it anyhow.
A YouTube "view" only counts if you watch enough of the video though so its no problem to just rage quit after 5 seconds if you don't want to up the view count.
In ops case, it leads us directly to his YouTube page with other completed works, so it comes off as spammy.
I just don't want this place to end up like the Hiphop subforum...

Well what a flame war I started here. Not my intended purpose.

Let me explain a bit more. I am learning audio production and I post my tracks on youtube in order to see how well they do. I also look for feedback from every track so that the next track I produce will be better. For example the last track I posted had comments about the bass tone not being good, while I didn't do a whole lot to change the bass tone on that track, I used the suggestions to get a better bass tone on this track. So if you don't want to provide feedback you don't have to. But theres no need to get suspicious of my intentions.

Maybe there should be some clarification of the rules for posting in the mix section.
New people could have some guidance as to what is acceptable and what is not.
The old timers here know whats up and how things run.
This is no slight on anyone, but some comments on new posters threads could serve to just drive them away.

You bass is way too high. I would also say its too bright
Mix your bassline better, the low end should support everything else in this genre, also some there are some timing issues with you track

Also,as the member Greg L would predict, your drums samples are too small for this genre, drums should be upfront, along with the distorted guitar that might need to get fatter

What can be done to bring drums to the front without them just being louder?

Well the loudness balance between the bass guitar and the kit is the first thing to look at; the bass is much louder than it needs to be. Then you might want to cut the high-mid EQ on the bass guitar a bit so that the same high mids on the kit can come through. Then you could alter the balance between the dry sound of the kit and the room sound. More room sound = further back, less room sound = further forward.

how do you reduce room sound on the kit, would less reverb do that?
