I am looking for a second hard drive to install in my computer. I want to use it for audio tracks only. Right now it only has a 40GB drive that has everything on it. I would like to purchace a 120GB+ drive for music storage.

I know just enough about computers to be dangerous. I was wondering if someone could outline what kind of specs would be good for music storage? Thanks

Just get a 7200rpm Seagate Barracuda with 8MB cache, SATA if your mobo has a SATA controller, PATA if not.

They're about as quietas you'll get

Yeah, 7200rpm with 8mb cache is all you need. SATA if possible. And to add, avoid Maxtor at all costs!

Thanks for the advice guys.

Now for the next question, how do I know if my computer will work with a sata drive? thanks

Why avoid Maxtor? I have had just as many WD drives crash as Maxtor drives.
