Is there a formula for estimating necessary disk space for any given project? I'm recording at 24/48, 12 to 16 tracks, with a few plug ins.

thanks,
Twist

The amount of data per track and second in bytes per second:

(bit depth/8)*sample rate

In your case

24/8*48000=144000 bytes/s or about 144kB/s

That times 16 gives you the amount of data if you run 16 tracks throughout the song, which is about 2,3MB/s

A one hour album would use close to 9GB

The number of plugins doesn't affect the amount of data used.

Oops, I almost forgot!

Ola, are you still using the Hoontech? And if so, how are you liking it? Any complaints? I hear they are going to be expanding their availability in the U.S.

I still have the Hoontech but I haven't had a computer at home for a while so I haven't been recording for quite some time. Also, I sold my mixer a while back and the preamps on the ADC/DAC2000 aren't good at all so the quality suffers from that. I hope to be able to post some samples soo though.
