i know this is more of a computer forum question, but it does affect how i can use my DAW. Where in windows XP can you tell how fast your hard drive is?? (RPM) I have one of those pre built and stock set up HP computers with a P4 processor, 512ram and 80 gig hard drive, but i wanna know the RPM's on it?? all i can see in the properties is the memory used and available??

All that info is in the BIOS.

Get there by quickly tappping the 'F2' key during boot-up.

Be careful while you're there because changing anything may result in your computer becoming a paperweight.

Another thing you could do is go to device manager, and look at what's under 'disk drives'. I'm not sure if its always the case, but on my pc it lists each drive by model number. Then you just need to do a search on google for that model number, and you should be able to get a spec.

A much safer solution than checking the BIOS.
