I have removed a couple of drives from my computer and done a re-build on my system.

When I try to re-install both appear to be formatted as "dynamic " drives. Windows XP home says that they will need to be formatted as "basic" .since I want to keep the data on these drives and be able to load music projects from them what is the best way to do this.

Would the use of an external usb 2.0 case be a solution?? will windows let me see the data if these drives are installed into an external case.

How the hell can I retrieve my stuff??
panicking..

Were you using compression, software raid or spanning both drives to look like one partition? Not sure if there's any simple way to recover dymaic disks but there are utilities that supposedly can recover the stuff. I've never had to recover anything off a dynamic disk so I dunno much about it. Here some example apps you could check out though:

Quetek file scavenger

R-studio

Active Data recovery

The last one is particularly intersting since some guy on a web site claimed it worked in a similar scenario to yours were he reloaded 2000 after a power outage and wasn't able to see his dymanic partitions. It's $75 or so but you could at least try the demos to see if they can see anything and buy if they do. The demos will probably demonstrate they can see your stuff but won't let you fix the disks until you wip out your credit card...
