Yo Ricardo 001 -- six less than James Bond!
Well, which one to choose? A DAW, like the Yamaha 4416 or 2816 or the cheaper 16G will do a good job at home; you can lift them up and take them away to do work. Basically, the contained DAW is very similar to a PC program but probably has some limitations.
You can research here to pick up countless threads discussing either type; or, use the forum for PC based programs, etc.
Much depends on what is it you want to accomplish? How good do you want editing capabilities? CDR/Rw burning? Special effects?
You can't get "everything" in a single box but, you can get what you need if you research, listen, audition before you buy.
I would guess most folks like what they buy because they have bought it? Not necessarily true but logical. I like my 2816; I enjoy its sound production qualities and the challenge of learning it in spite of awkward manual organization.
So, look, listen, read, ask, and take a plunge.
