If I buy a digidesign 002... and have 4 mic's going into it, and the 002 hooked up straight to my comp will I be able to record straight onto my comp? Or will I need something like an Alesis ADAT-HD24 to record onto??

you record right to your pc, you'll need a recording software...

Well the Digi 002 comes with Pro Tools.. that's enough, right? Thanks for the help!

You'll need a firewire card so the 002 can talk to the nice PC.-Richie

Thanks for all the help guys... I know the digi 002 has a 6-pin to 6-pin firewire connection, as far as firewire cards is there anything in particular that I should be looking for or are they all essentially the same?

The software that comes with firewire cards varies a lot. You may not need much of it anyway.

The other consideration is what other features might be on the same firewire card. Simple ones are just firewire, but other models also offer USB 2.0 ports, SCSI ports, and ATAPI connections (for more hard drives). If you have need now or in the future for any of these, getting a combo firewire card might be an idea.
