I've been checking out some hard disc recorders from boss, roland, tascam ect... lately. I have a great pc, but I've heard that hard disc recorders don't have the latency issues the pc's do. Anywho, I'm new to this and have a few questions.

Can I import WAV files on my PC into a hard disc recorder? I have backing tracks that I'd love to jam on without the latency issues.

Are the latency issues alot better on hard disc recorders? I've been reading that they are, but I want some more opinions.

Any suggestions on a good reliable hard disc recorder?

I'm going to be using the recorder with a pod x3 and a mic preamp I have, so I don't care if the mic pre's are low quality on the unit, I just want the recorder to have good transparent inputs for the pod.

Boss, roland is the same thing.

Yes you can do that thru USB. Besides you can just plug your soundcard's out into one of the recorder's channels if you just want to jam along.

There are no latency issues on standalone recorders. I've been using the low-range Boss unit with absolutely no problems

If that's out of your price range, try any other BR-series model, they're all very good.

Thx for the reply. I'm looking at some boss and korg units on ebay right now. I used to have a boss br-8 a long time ago and I remember it being a descent unit. How would a korg unit compare though? I keep hearing that the korg d888 is a really great unit. Pricewise they are similar. I'm just going to be recording myself though.
