I mix on (let me have it) Behringer Truths 2031a's and I think they sound good. But I have never used anything else and its time to upgrade. I started with a 600 budget and found the KRK Roket 8 Gen2's and the Mackie MR8's in that range. Well Adam 7's kept popping up all over other forums and I started looking at those. Well $1145 for two is pushing it for me right now. Well today I got a Samash 20% off card in the mail and said "cool 20% of Adams A7's". Well the fine print excludes them. I guess I should just drive over Saturday to the store and listen to all the above. But Id love to hear comments on all the ones I mentioned. 20% of of the Mackies or KRK is a go (they are not excluded). I guess at 20% off the Mackie 824's are a choice too. Let me have it

While your there listen to a set of these JBL LSR4326P 6.25" Active Studio Monitors. Dismissing the bells a whistles (i.e., the room mode) these are still pretty impressive for the money (comparable to the Adams). However, regardless of the monitor you chose, placement and acoustic treatment always needs to be addressed as well. BTW - you can get them cheaper than the price at Samash so tell them you've seen them for less that 1000 (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LSR4326Ppak/), they should beat/match the price.

What do you use for a room. Might it be better to upgrade your room with sound treatment?

There is no correct answer that anyone else can give. They can give you opinions on what sounds good to them but it is highly subjective. You need to choose what sounds best for you because that may not be the same as what sounds good to anyone else.

I've heard the ones you listed except the Adams and I like the Behringers myself.

You got it right when you said you should just go ride over and listen for yourself and bring your favorite cd with you.

Keep in mind the best monitors are going to sound like crap in a crap room.

My room has alot of traps. I was under the impression you can never have too many traps. So I loaded up :) Here are some pics. I do have 10' ceilings. I have no problem with the Behringers I have now, but I have never experienced any others.

Thanks I wrote those down.

I ended up getting two sets. I got KRK RP8 G2 Rokits and KRK RP5 G2 Rokits. I listened to the Mackies and Yamahas and a few others. They didnt have any Adams A7, but the KRK's I liked the best. I think I drove the guy nuts, but when I said I'll take both sets of the KRK's he was happy. Plus I had my 20% off coupon. Now I need to score a Mackie Big Knob on ebay.
