Is there anybody here using a digital hand held recorder like the Zooms, Sonys, Yamahas and Korgs as an MP3 (music) player as well as a recording device?

I am considering doing that that as opposed to buying an iPod because the hand held recorder would do double duty as a music player AND be available for recording duties.

I would appreciate your thoughts and comments.

Zoom H4n hands down ... don't even give it a second thought.

Yup. The H4n is a great piece of kit (in fact the whole Zoom range is great). Not madly expensive but it's found favour even for professional recording. I use one for sound effects in the field and love it to bits.

The Olympus LS-10, LS-11 and LS-5 are great for this, they have a special folder for MP3 fles to use the recorder as an "iPod".

FYI. the Zoom H4n looks awesome but it's a bit bigger than what I am looking for.
