I'm recording a band in the studio and they needed a Hammond. Now after looking around we've recovered a XB-5 with leslie from a local musicstore. I haven't heard it yet, but I understood it was for sale at a rather low price, because they actually didn't know they still had it. it was standing in the storage room behind a bunch of stuff. Anybody any idea what it's worth.

According to me this can't be a real deal because the thing had a LCD display. now that is no go for a hammond in my opninion. I mean, advertising your studio has a hammond will look sort of funny according to me when it has a freaking display.

Ffffuuuucccckkkk, did a little search for the XB-5 on the net, and price new is about $10.000 only for the hammond ! And this baby is going for average secondhand prices of $6.000.

The one currently in our studio is new and could be bought for $1000 including leslie. We'd better hook this baby up today to hear it.

You's been lucky a little too much lately... I hope you realize that, and that it will soon turn all against you. You know that, don't you?

Roel, I am going to be extremely fair on this deal, and tell the guy who brought it in about the above. Our financing does come out of a jar, and the bottom is becoming visible, so I guess i have to pass on this one myself. If he doesn't bite, I might, but just to resell direct afterwards. It best though if he got it because he actually can do something decent with it.

If I had the money, I'd buy it right in front of yer nose... :p

But I gotz a piano already. And my back hurts as hell from playing it for hours in a row... (About 8 hours this weekend, I guess. Not bad aye?) :(

He didn't want to buy it! He had the money planned for other thingies. he did say to the bassplayer that he could buy it, but he was still in doubt. I told them hat if they were not interested I would buy it..so just keep waiting.

I did kind of actually buy my fifth (!) tascam DA recorder yesterday. A friends-studio was looking for these babies, I saw one in great shape and low hours advertised for a decent price, bought it with the intention of reselling to the friend......but with the new console coming in (hope hope) we could actually use the extra tracks. So we called the friend and said...well fuck ya....this one is staying....and now we have 40 track digital !!!!

That will be no meat for another week on the table.

$1000 bucks is a good deal for the Hammond BUT just so you know, I work on pianos in chuches for a living and the store I work out of is one of the main organ repair places in this state and even into Miss. and the XB-5 is not a tonewheel organ. It's totally electronic. Usually when people ask for a Hammond, they want the tonewheel sound. Without that, might as well have a keyboard. And there's got to be a reason it's so cheap. The old B-3's and even C-3's go for as much as $10,000 (usually between $6000 and $8,000) and they're 30 years old. I'm going by the store tomorrow so if you like I'll ask one of the techs about the XB-5. ;)

Ok, I got the main organ techs' cell# and I'll call him tonight 'till I get him. As soon as I do I'll let you know what he says. This guy is a full time organ technician. It's all he does and he's done it for many year. Music stores across the state send their organs to him for repair, so he'll have the skinny on that organ. I'll post it up tonight. :)
