I have a setup with a Hammerfall 9652. My motherboard also has a soundcard which I will not really use. However neither of these have midi. I do not need midi for recording but I do like to dump stuff (settings, patches, etc) from my computer to my midi instruments (keyboard, and boss gt-6). I have an old Sound Blaster lying around with a game port and midi cable. Can I just install the sound blaster and use it for midi? Will this cause problems having 3 sound cards!!??
I have a pretty stable machine with an intel 845 chipset P4 2.4Ghz 533 FSB, win xp using nuendo with two hard drives.

You can use the SB for midi and disable the onboard sound on the board.

Sound Blaster

It sounds to me... and correct me if I am wrong. But the Sound Blaster is not a PCI right?
Using a legacy sound card as you might remember can be a tough thing to do. You will have to set the IRq and DMA channel on it to get it to work. Usually they dont have much room to play in so everything else in your box will have to work around what it wants.
But if by chance you can make it fly... MIDI should work just fine that way.
