I wrote the music yesterday and recorded it. Then I wrote the lyrics this morning while my cable was out due to raining and recorded it LOL. My daughters stayed home from school today because they were throwing up. I guess they caught a stomach bug.

They wanted to watch me recording and I told them I would let them sing on my song if they stayed real quiet. I tried getting them to sing the chorus, which they weren't able to do. They're only 6 and 7 years old and it was their first time. Then I tried getting them to do LA LA LA's which didn't work out so great. Finally I just had them sings some AHHHHs with me and it ended up being pretty cool. Not that it's prefect, but I think it came out great LOL...

Got to be my favorite one so far :D

HALLO SCREAMS
Verse
It's All Hallows Eve - All the monsters come out - Have a spook-tacular time
That ol' Jack's got his bloody nap sack - Rolling heads off a pumpkin vine
You're so boooo-tiful! No bones about it! Bugs & Hisses to you!
Come on in, Come in for a bite - Sit for a spell and have some witches brew
Chorus
Trick or Treat, a corpses feet, give me something sweet to eat
A shriveled head, the walking dead, the spirits come out make us scream and shout
It's always Halloween - A nightmare it may seem - Listen to all of those Hallo Screams!
Verse
It's always dark deep inside caged in a flesh bag of bones
Deathly silence outside broken by a banshees cries, screams and moans
Howling wolves, claws and jaws, gnawing at the mange
Lunatics escape their asylum blood thirsty and deranged
Chorus
Bridge
It's All Hallows Eve in a state of decay the witches come out as the clergymen pray
Late in October the Autumn leaves fall deep in the cornfield the scarecrow stands tall
The ghosts all wake up from their dirt nap to the tune of fluttering vampire bats
At the graveyard things get really strange - The corpses crawl out crying for brains!
Chorus

Good work. Vocals are the best yet, I think. Good guitars, good mix.

'Dirt nap'. Nice.

This one's my halloween fave this year so far. The brief instrumental segment sounds like middle east or the cure. You could try turning the bass down 2 dB when it comes out of the instrumental part. Bring it up later. Pff.

Nicely done.

Great background vocals too. Is that you? Terrific guitar solo.

This kicks ass Phil. It is by far the best song I've heard from you

Thank you! I'm going to use the Ramones Blitzkrieg bop as my future reference. It just seems to have the right kind of balance that really cuts though. Although I'm not going to try to sound like them, just going to try to get it bright and open like that particular track. :D

Thank, glad you like it. I'm not done experimenting with the mix, but I think for a one off quick mix it come out OK, just needs a bit of tweaking :D

My daughters who are 5 and 6 are singing the background vocals with me. I'm in there a little, but not as much as they are LOL.

1st Mix

2nd Mix - Using The Ramons Blitzkrieg Bop as the reference track.

3rd Mix - Drums seem too loud in the 2nd Mix - What you think?

I listened to 3. This song is awesome lol. The lead vocal sounds pretty dry to me, I wonder if you might put some verb on it or something to sit in the mix a little closer. The background vox are awesome, did you get some friends to help?

Sorry, missed your comment. Your kids are already great at this haha.

Checked out 3rd version. i thought the low end was really lacking? When it picks up, it's a bit harsh and the guitars and cymbals that come in at :54 sounded a bit piercing to me. could be the phones i'm using at work though. where is your hpf on the guitars and bass set?

LOL this is great. Man how much time do you have to record all this stuff your posting?? Wish I had a 1/100 of your time lol.

I think its great phil....I do think there is NO low end. I am listening on a sub and can't hear it at all.

Thanks! I'll give that a try :D

Yeah I'm still trying to figure things out, but I caught that bug from my kids lol and now I'm down a few days...

I do a lot of cheating man. It only takes me a few hours to write and record everything. Then I will write the lyrics and record the vocals the following day. So, basically I spend less time recording than most people spend watching TV. ;)

EDIT. This is probably the final version because I really don't think I could do any better. I'm totally at a loss for trying to figure out how to get everything in it's own place and sound clear and perfect. I think it's pretty good. It's probably one of those things where if I had it mastered by someone they could hear what I'm mixing and fix it. So, I might post this in the other section to see lol.

NEW MIX - I think this is probably the best I could do LOL... I give up :p

Great rockin' Halloween song Phil! I loved it. Super lead guitar work on this one. I thought the mix was very good.
great track!

Phil, I came, I saw & it wasn't available. Sorry.

Sorry here you go. I had so many damn versions I had to get rid of some of them! LOL... I realize I've had so many freaking music ideas it's insane. I was going to take a break, but then I was going though my recordings and I have recorded 13 songs for my acoustic shit. I ended up only doing 5 of them. I guess that's how bat shit crazy I am to forget about all this music I did LOL. I'll be working on it. They're only missing a few things like some lyrics and vocals etc. So, I'm going to try to finish my country/acoustic rock stuff and then maybe do some more hard rock, punk, metal or something or not... :p

Love the guitar tones now, sounds meatier than in the first mix. Chorus is still awesome. Nice work man.

Well I'm using a shitty-ass low end JS32 Jackson Rhodes with EMG pickups. Then I'm using the DI on my recording interface to plug the guitar in. Then I'm using Native Instruments Guitar rig for the amp sim. Crunchy amp settings without too much fizzy distortion. And there are 6 guitar tracks as well. 4 for the straight rhythm panned 2 100% Right and 2 100% Left. The other 2 tracks are sort of distortion accompaniment that I just let ring out instead of playing the exact rhythm. And those are 80% L And R.

I don't really like using the amp sims and shitty guitar, but I also want to make music and don't have the money to buy more shit. So, I just do what I can with what I have. Even though everyone will say what they say, it all boils down to just keeping at it and going with what you have until you can get better stuff to use. :p

Never stop practicing :D
:guitar:

That guitar solo though, sounds like The Undertaker finally got the hang of riffs, fantastic. Those haunting lyrics really work with your vocals too, quite dark but mesmerizing. Overall, every instrument blended pretty smoothly, and although I'm not a metal fan, I greatly appreciate the work.

Hi, Phil - I like this a hell of a lot better than some of the stuff I've heard you put up before. I think my issue usually is screamo vocals. :D I can't be doing with them, even if I'm digging the music. It's great, good, full tones throughout and I like the meaty bass. Well done! :)

Hey thanks man. Quite a nice compliment. I wasn't sure what kind of music it was LOL. I guess it is Metal \m/

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I didn't think I was doing screamo style. What I was going for is if you mixed the vocal styles of Suicidal Tendencies, 45 Grave, Rocky Erickson and Slayer LOL. So like a punk metal rocked out thrash vocal :p

Sounds awesome.
I think you should feature the vocals more with more volume. They sound great.
And maybe give some more crack/brightness to the snare.

You're so bootiful
No bones about it.

FPhil: It does sound awesome. What does it sound like if you try those suggestions? Just asking, you understand.

Maybe if I work on it again LOL. I haven't worked on the song in a few weeks now :p
