Half and Half

hey, has anyone ever done this...??

I want to record a band like so:

Go to a nice studio, and lay down super drum and bass.... esp. drums. Get this on HD, and do the rest on my own.

Anyone done anything like that?
ANd Anyone have any reommendations for a studio around seattle who can give me a tight backline on HD?

People do it all the time... spend all the money on the drums, and you'll get a much nicer recording... IF you have the means to do the rest as good or better than the studio does.

I figure I have the creativity and time that I cant buy from anone... and I really like the Idea of producing my own shit. Ive done it the other way, and Ive NEVER been like "right on, mr engineer, that is EXACTLY what I wanted!"
