Hi,

Have a question about Hafler TA1600 amp....

Does it have a headphone? I looked at the spec and it is not mentioned that it has one but in the image (see attached pix), it looks like it has in the front.

I know that P1000 has the headphone jack (the spec says) but the picture of it shows kinda same jack as the TA1600's.

Anyone who has the TA1600 please advise.

Thanks!
Bill

Yeah it does but it is as useless as tits on a bull because it doesn't switch off the amplified signal to the speakers.

man, that's how it's supposed to work?!?!? i thought mine was just defective. why have a headphone jack that doesn't kill the speakers? i just don't get it.

Really? What's the benefit of having the headphone jack if it doesn't kill the speaker. Can anyone explain?

I guess the one on P1000 should be the same.

Could be there for quick monitoring of input. If your hearing something on the output, and your not sure if its a blown speaker or something, thats quick way to check.

Other than that, dunno.

The headphone out not killing the speakers makes sense to me. This allows the engineer to hear the speakers in the control room while the performer uses headphones in a tracking room. This is what I do. To kill the speakers I got a Radio Shack speaker selector, and just switch it off when I just want to use headphones.

I see. It makes sense of the studio recording...but for us home recordists, it might not be very applicable.

Thanks for the idea!
