Hafler P1500 vs Alesis RA-150 for Tannoy Reveals - opinions?

Hi all! I've read just about every post regarding both Hafler and Alesis amps - I didn't encounter a single negative (and read lots of positives) on the Hafler stuff but read some bad and average posts on the Alesis stuff. However, the few posts from people who owned one of the newer RA series amps (RA-150, 300 etc.) were never really negative.

Obviously I'm not arguing about the Hafler being better - but the RA-300 is 1/2 the price of the P3000 (and the same situation applies with the RA-150 and the P1500). The RA-150 is supposed to be a complete re-design to the RA-100 and internally looks to be based on a similar concept to the P1500. Anyway, here's the question:

Has anyone used an RA-150 (or 300 or 500), what are their opinions, and more importantly has anyone used BOTH an RA-150 and a P1500 and if so was there a VERY noticable difference (worth paying double for)? Secondly, has anyone used either of these amps with the passive Tannoy Reveals and what are their opinions?

Help!!!

Raj

P.S. Let's not go into "you can get the P1500 from www.#)($*#@.com for only $x!!!". I'd rather buy it locally (Australia) and the price situation here is as I stated above :( .

What about the Hafler TA-1600? I'd choose that over the Alesis.

Would you believe that the stupid Australian distributor doesn't import them???!!!

Menathor,

Oddly enough I have been down the same path and for the time being I'm using an Alesis RA-150 with Tannoy Reveals.

Personally, I don't have any major complaints............I knew that for what I was prepared to spend at the time there may have been some sacrifices, but without having a Hafler here to A/B with the RA-150, it would only be a guess as to the differences.

One thing that is usually ignored when people are considering monitor/amp combinations, is that their listening environment is going to have a major impact on how things will sound, consequently, it doesn't matter how much you spend on monitors, etc., ...........if your room isn't right then nothing is likely to sound right.
