I guess I've been here long enough to be overdue to post something here. So, here it is

Unfortunately I don't have a Website. Where can I get someone to host the file?

www.nowhereradio.com

You can post a couple songs for free, and if you like his service, you can have unlimited space for about $15 every 6 months.

Nowhere is pretty much the standard around this board.

Got a problem here chaps. I joined Nowhereradio as a consumer a while back and now I don't know how to change my status.

Nowhere has its own forums and Waldo is a very responsive guy. Try there.

Okay. I managed to get in as an Artist but now I find I need to turn my audio file (which is in Realplayer) into an MP3. What's the next step?

I like the melody. Rather catchy. I had some trouble making out the words so I can't comment on the lyrics. But it was kind of a nice tune.

Overall the mix is very quiet. I'd think you can bring up the main mix level. Maybe experiment some with compression to enable a bit more strength in the sound of the mix.

The mix, especially the vocals, also lacks a bit of presence. There is a certain "muffledness" to the mix. It seems to be missing some mids.

Some execution issues with the backing vocals. They have some synching problems with the lead vocals.

There is a guitar riff that plays though the entire song. I'd recommend taking it out of certain spots. Perhaps only use it during musical transitions, or the verses, or the chorus. But using it all the way through it kind of gets on your nerves. It's a catchy riff and shouldn't be entirely discarded. Just pick your spots. It will make it more effective IMO.

My thoughts...

This kind of reminded me of an old Bowie tune.

I can't really comment on the recording since on my machine everything comes in kind of muffled ...

but the songwriting is good. I think it could use a change in there somewhere, maybe add a bridge or possibly some kind of modulation to a different key can make it a little more interesting overall. It was a little hard to make out the lyrics, but I like the style in which you sang it. It fit the song. :)

The playing sounded good on this end.

Thanks for letting us listen! :)

The vocals were recorded using an old AKG D321 (which is a dynamic, no condensors in my collection when this song was tracked).
I think the lead guitar riff is maybe a little too loud during the verses. Some dynamic mixing would seem to be in order (Could I use a compressor to maybe duck it when the lead vocal comes in?).
Not too sure about the modulation thing. It's not something I have much experience with. Any suggestions as to which key to modulate to (the song is in E Dorian, btw)?
Strangely enough, it has been compressed. I didn't compress the original mix (done to chrome cassette) but the chap who burnt it to a CDR for me did compress it. Not sure what he used though.
Oh. And was the tambourine LOUD enough for ya!

I got a fever and the only prescription is MORE TAMBOURINE! :D

Thanks for the feedback chaps!
