Hi all,

I've been playing guitar for 15 years now and I've had it with bars, trouble, smoke, fights between bandmembers and the lot ;-) I have a well-paid daytime job but would really like to keep playing and composing, if only for my own pleasure.

That's where the questions come in - I have a set of "requirements" (for lack of a better word - I'm no native English speaker) for a computer-based recording setup. I should be able to
- record straight from my POD XT into my computer (OK, that's an easy one)
- play along with MIDI files and hear (and record) the result at the same time
- play MIDI files with other sounds (soundfonts ? samples ?) than the ones supplied by cheapo soundblasters

Care to offer some input on what hardware/software I'd need ? Anybody with about the same setup ? I would like to add that
quality and ease of use go over money, and that I can start from scratch - I only have a computer (powerful enough, at that) and my guitar stuff.

Thanks in advance for all your comments / recommendations / suggestions !
