A deskktop daw is always preferable to a laptop.

The only thing a laptop daw has going for it is portability. Apart from that they're less powerful, have less resources and are more expensive

The Acer Ferrari is over-priced. an HP or an eMachines would be a better choice. The Acer comes with a 4200rpm drive, which is unacceptable in that price range. Tearing out the drive right when you buy the laptop is ridiculous.

polaris. of course its over priced. but it looks soooo cute.
and red for christmas too !
actually polaris i'm wrestling with the whole laptop thing.
we dont see any emachines round here. do you think they will hold up over time ? does the emachines come with 7200 rpm internal ?

uhm, right.

Cool, I think this is the route I am going to take. I'll get my desktop cleaned up and add some RAM. I will look into getting a more powerful dedicated PC DAW when I'm able to.

Is it worth buying from companies who make DAW's, or should ya just have someone/some computer store custom make you a computer to your specs. I was always curious if it was worth paying extra $ to a company who makes DAW. Does that extra $ go to a better product, or support?
