How can I convert my .wrk files to MP3 without buying the encoder. Are there any free programs for this?
 
Welcome to the board, Jack...

First, you'll have to ensure that your .wrk files contained mixed audio tracks only. You cannot save/export MIDI data to mp3 files, unless you record them first into audio tracks.

How can I do that, Jaymz...? I'm not sure I know jack about it...

After you are sure you have all audio track, select all tracks and export them first as Wave file. Then, you may convert them into mp3 usiing external third party free audio converter. Just Google for Free Audio Convert Mp3.

Thanks James. Worked like a charm, I used Creative Wave Studio to convert it to WAV and then Musicmatch to convert to MP3.

You should be able to export the .wrk file directly to a wave from Cakewalk. Why did you need to use Creative Wave Studio?

What version of Cakewalk are you using? Just export to wave, and use musicmatch to covert the wave to .mp3.

Also there might be a way to incorporate musicmatch into the Sonar toolbar. I think moskus has something about this on his FAQ site (or if not, he should have :) ). This would allow you to export the mp3 directly from Sonar (if that's what you use).

Ah, so. Guess I need to pay closer attention when I read. :)

Well he still should be able to export to wave. Not so sure about the toolbar thing though.


BTW, James, what's a tittle? Is that a young girl's breast?? :D Hmmm. those tittles are developing nicely, young lady. Some day you will be very proud of them.

Yeah, he could just click on the "file" button under "export to" in console view, and select "wav".

I dunno about that musicmatch, I was never impressed with it and I've seen people have file association problems because of it.
It sometimes forces you to play your MP3s with it.

I'd much rather use CDex to convert my sound files, very neat and versatile...and FREE!!! Just do a google search for "CDex".

Then, download and install WinAmp to listen to your MP3s and Wav files. :)

lol, whatever you want to call it, but it's not the edit view.
 
Nope, I mean edit view.

On GT 2 it's "Mix" view and "Edit" view.

I just checked. :)

DB Poweramp is another freeware program that converts to mp3. I use it all the time.
